General Summary:
The Grants Senior Manager is responsible for the overall management of the grants and sponsorships program in Global Medical Affairs. This role will have responsibility for queries around the submission and review process, including cross-functional training to key internal stakeholders, as well as providing support for the Vertex Award Programs. This role will ensure processes and procedures are conducted according to standards and SOPs established by Compliance, Legal, and Medical Affairs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides oversight and full lifecycle management of incoming grant, humanitarian donations, sponsorship and membership requests for Vertex disease areas of interest. This includes oversight of grant committee meetings, contracting, milestone tracking/payments, reconciliations, budget planning and audit readiness
- Leads at least one of the Global Grant Committee Meetings, providing an assessment of the request and submitter to the committee(s)
- Identifies ongoing enhancements to the grant and sponsorship processes to ensure compliance with Vertex’s policies, utilizing industry insights and benchmarking data, and leads the implementation of the enhancements
- Participates in the creation of reports for grants and sponsorship tracking, including status reports, metrics and dashboards, and proactively communicates this information to the relevant internal stakeholders
- Participate in the development and tracking of grant budgets with Finance, including the annual budget and forecasts
- Work with Legal on the contracting process, ensuring grant and sponsorship templates are up to date
- Maintains data management systems that effectively support the review/approval process, archiving and maintenance of all grants programs
- May provide training on data management systems to new team members
- Will help launch and manage an award grant program
- Communicates and exchanges complex information with internal contacts (e.g., Global Medical Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Patient Advocacy, etc.) and external applicants
- Other External Funding related projects and tasks, as necessary
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to exchange complex information with others
- Strong project management skills
- Strong initiative and ability to identify issues and recommend solutions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) as well as online meeting platforms (Zoom)
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
- Knowledge of relevant guidelines including, but not limited to, medical and regulatory affairs, drug development, FDA and regulatory guidelines (e.g., PhRMA guidelines, OIG, AMA, ACCME, EACCME, Sunshine Act, etc.) and compliance around Grant Programs
- Proficiency with Request Management systems
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
- Typically requires 6 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Pay Range:
$134,320 - $201,480
Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
