Description:
The Graphic Designer plays a vital role in leading the creative communications process for Pepperdine University and its five schools. As part of University Marketing and Communications at Pepperdine, this position is responsible for many of the University’s high profile communications pieces and serves a key communication liaison for the team. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Creative, the Graphic Designer will assist the assistant director and other IMC staff in designing major communications pieces that reach Pepperdine’s largest, external audiences. The Graphic Designer has the tools to create, integrate, analyze, synthesize and visualize vast amounts of information. Collaborates with production artists, photographers, illustrators, prepress technicians, printers, developers, and anyone else who is involved in the development of a project.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Minimum of a BA in Graphic Design or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of consistent, direct, hands-on employment as a Graphic Designer (excluding freelance or internships) in an advertising agency, corporate in-house organization, or higher education in-house creative team. An organized self-starter with print and digital graphic design experience. Expertise in translating message into visual solution with superior concept development skills. Strong organizational and collaboration skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) required. Knowledge of print production requirements, workflow, and digital asset creation. Ability to work with technical data and marketing challenges. Ability to work independently as well as on teams. Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Mac platform and creative/design hardware/software.
Preferred: BFA or MFA in Graphic Design. Designing for digital space using software like Adobe XD, presentation software (Keynote, Powerpoint) and motion graphics. Strong analytical skills with an excellent eye for detail. Knowledge of web accessibility standards. Familiarity with HTML and CSS.

Expected Pay Range: $27.68 - $30.76 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities:
- Pepperdine Collateral Design: Directly supports the creative communications needs of Pepperdine University. Develops creative strategy and executes marketing and communication campaigns across print and digital media.
- Client Partnership & Support: Provides support and expertise in the areas of design through the translation of concept and message into visual solutions.
- Committee & Group Participation/Collaboration: Serves as an experienced and high-qualified creative services staff member. Responsible for providing the design and execution of components of group/team collaborations.
- University & School Branding Standards: Plays a key role in the strategy, design, and implementation of brand identity elements for Pepperdine including logos, wordmarks, and icons. Understands and upholds the University Brand Style Guide.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
