Job Description
GREENSKEEPER / TURF CARE - JUNIOR GROUNDSKEEPER
Join our winning team! The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course is Audubon-certified and carved right into the slopes of the Coastal mountain range. Working in the Golf Grounds department, the Junior Groundskeeper team’s high attention to detail ensures golf course maintenance is completed to exceed our golfers’ expectations.
This is a full-time seasonal position. We are looking for candidates to work throughout our 2024 Golf season, starting immediately and ending in October.
Starting rate of pay: $19.95 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation - hourly rates increase after 6 months and then yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $25.60.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in Golf course turf care is an asset but not required
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Updated driver’s abstract
- Perform tasks under minimal supervision
- Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape maintenance work
- Understanding of the rules of golf
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities:
- Consistently offering professional, engaging and friendly service
- Cutting grass with a wide variety of self-propelled and push type machines
- General landscaping, hand-mowing and weed-eating duties
- Maintaining cleanliness and neatness of the Golf Course area, including cart paths, fairways, greens, roughs and tees
- Smoothing bunker sand with hand rakes and machines
- Setting the golf course for play
- Labor intensive work in the form of digging, lifting and pushing
