We are an electricity producer from wind, solar, hydro, biomass and storage and also a service provider to 3rd party clients such as Development, EPC, O&M and Distribution.Today we are in 20 countries, split among 4 continents, and offering a global operating capacity to our clients. Our Development department is looking for a talented and experienced Grid Operations Specialist. This position will be based in Stonehouse and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Study new policies and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities in the operations phases of projects
  • Advise projects’ stakeholders on the relevant legislation and regulations
  • Interact with other departments to feed into development strategy and advise on operational issues, closing a feedback loop
  • Lead technical discussions with DNOs, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs), Designers, Development Project Managers, EPC teams, and legal counsel
  • Provide technical and grid design for any support required in delivery of projects
  • Ensure project compliance with relevant regulations and policies
  • Program Risk Management, ongoing monitoring of program risks and wider enabling works, evaluating payment structures and project timescales to mitigate issues as they arise
  • Aid EPC and Asset Owners with the delivery of projects under the EBoP and/or Grid connection Contracts from kick-off meeting with ICP and DNO, up to energization
  • Collaborate with ICPs to ensure DNO’s meet requirements
  • Collaborate with project teams to explore potential cost-saving opportunities within the grid offer
  • Review the technical designs submitted by the ICP, HV/MV contractors or EPCs to ensure compliance and to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality
  • Support Asset Owners in the review of Non-Contestable scope of works, budgets and any potential variations/delays from the DNO, including technical discussions (ex.: potential DNO upgrade works in other substations/overhead lines, communication and protection requirements, fibre optics)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree or Degree in Electrical Engineering - Specialization in Energy Systems or Automation Systems (mandatory);
  • At least 7 years of experience in this field
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the grid functioning and planning in the UK
  • Current or previous experience of working for a UK DNO, ESO
  • Strong network with grid operators
  • MS Office, AutoCAD, DigSilent, PSSE (or similar) and Electrical; Engineering software domain
  • Fluent in English language
  • Availability for national and international travel
  • Full, clean driving licence + business insurance suitable for work use.
