Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) is looking for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Engineer to support existing Boeing product platforms, predominately Fixed and Rotary Wing aircraft but also Training Systems.
BDUK is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,400 people in the UK. We are responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including new capabilities like the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Autonomous Systems, C4ISR Services, Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services and are very much in a growth phase.

BDUK Engineering function operates a matrix organisation consisting of Engineering departments that deliver technical skills, expertise and products into our programmes. This role will be in the Product Support Engineering Department. The Department consists of the following technical areas:

  • Reliability Centred Maintenance Analysis
  • Reliability and Maintainability
  • Logistic Support Analysis
  • Engineering Data Exploitation
  • Obsolescence Management
  • Technical Publications
  • Product Support Engineering.

As a GSE Engineer, you will help to facilitate, grow and implement Product Support Engineer philosophies and techniques whilst remaining compliant with the appropriate regulatory standards. You will report to the BDUK Product Support Engineering Manager whilst being technically supported by our other capability specialists within the department.

In your role, you shall:

  • Act as a focal to co-ordinate the engineering responses to on-site operations and brief both internally and externally on GSE engineering activities and communicate progress with the Product Support department.
  • Liaise with Engineering, Operations, ILS, Publications, Supply Chain and other Product Support Departments in both Boeing UK and worldwide to glean and/or provide data and information to support their tasks and activities.
  • Develop maintenance policies, maintain the necessary plans, processes and databases to ensure GSE outputs meet the company technical data and UK regulatory requirements.
  • In consultation with customers, co-ordinate with all the necessary Engineering Functions to define and gather all the design requirements to modify and/or develop and commission new items of GSE.
  • Work to define and document the GSE approval process to focus on potential shortcomings in released engineering required to sustain the existing GSE.
  • Identify requirements, provide facility information and develop/update maintenance documents and deliver routine Product Support outputs.
  • Conducting tasks to identify, collate, analyse, document and provide coherent and actionable data information relevant to GSE.
  • Review Engineering changes to support customer maintenance operations.
  • Assist in developing and customising reports and tooling specification sheets.
  • Identifying and progress Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits and reviews to ensure products and data information meet requirements.
  • Work as directed by the Lead Technical Support Engineer and the BDUK Product Support Manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential requirements:

  • Be able to obtain SC security clearance.
  • Experience of support equipment usage and support needs

Desirable requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant STEM subject or experience in a relevant engineering field
  • Understanding of Support Engineering in the Military environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus for detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
