AS GROUP ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS) MANAGER, SOME OF THE SKILLS THAT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR SUCCESS IN MEETING PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:

  • Proven leadership skills and EHS subject matter expertise.

  • Carry out regular project audits/inspections and ISO 45001 procedural/ process audits to evaluate EHS compliance. As relevant include project management.
  • Support with the development, review and approval of project execution plans (PEP), SOP’s, RAMS dynamic risk assessments.
  • Interpreting safety metrics and effectively communicating insights to EHS professionals and project management teams to drive action and accountability.
  • Demonstrating project management skills, including the ability to lead teams, work in a fast-paced environment and with the ability to produce and maintain timelines, and document progress.
  • Ability to drive multiple high priority initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to represent Designer Group in a professional manner when dealing with clients, supply chain partners & local communities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years EHS Mgr. leadership construction engineering experience.
  • Recognised 3rd Level EHS Qualification or related field equivalent.
  • Recognised EHS accreditations and certifications e.g. IOSH
  • Full Clean Driving Licence.
  • Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills.
  • Understanding & experience of standards and standard certification process to include ISO45001, ISO14001
  • Understanding of statutory requirement to include the Safety, Health and Welfare Act 2005 and regulations and orders made under the act.
  • Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) understanding of the requirements for compliance as defined within the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 S.I. No. 291 of 2013

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The Group EHS Manager is responsible for leading Designer Group Environmental, Health & Safety program for the respective regional operations they oversee. Based out of the Designer Group Dublin HQ with frequent & regular project visits, this role will be a coach and resource for local leadership and local EHS and operational personnel focused on driving compliance and continuous improvement to the EHS management system, while assuring full operational alignment. Part of a core team, the Group EHS Manager will report directly to the Director of QEHS. The position may require travel to international project locations.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support Designer Group portfolio of projects.
  • Implement, and administer all applicable EHS management systems as per ISM requirements, support programs such as health and wellbeing and policies to deliver on EHS performance, KPI’s and goals.
  • Ensure that requirements and procedures are in place in compliance with all EHS legislation, regulations and management systems.
  • Manage & coordinate the project based EHS professionals.
  • Support incident investigations and/or after-action review process.
  • Implement, manage, and/or ensure compliance for EHS management systems and programs, evaluating and acting upon change.
  • In collaboration with project management teams and leadership develop meaningful goals and objectives for site based EHS professionals.
  • Assists in developing and implementing policies and programs concerning EHS issues.
  • Primary contact for region regulatory agencies such as HSA, EPA for inspections, assist with communication, information gathering, evaluating, and responding to events or conditions that are not consistent with our operations.
  • Participate in operational teams within the organization to represent areas of functional expertise.
  • Manage specific programs within the EHS management system to ensure ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Provide representation during various audits & inspections including outside agency inquiries/inspections.
  • Assist with management EHS audits & inspections.
  • Assist in the completion EHS reporting requirements, produce EHS reports as needed.
  • Provide summary reports to project teams & leadership regarding pertinent EHS key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with other operational teams and management to provide oversight and quality assurance to the root cause analysis process and to ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate and effective.
  • Provide information and direction to management on potential threats to the business that may result in legal action against the organization.
  • Analyses the training needs of the organization in the region as it relates to EHS competence and knowledge retention.
  • Assist projects with EHS training and develop training programs where applicable.
  • Partner with operations to identify, anticipate, assess hazards, and implement company EHS policies and management systems, maintain regulatory compliance, and reduce the impact of incidents and losses
  • Partner with operations to integrate EHS performance and ownership
  • Support other departments as it relates to EHS Issues.
  • Participating in change management teams to represent EHS integration into the business processes.
  • Participating in professional organizations on behalf of the company.
