Description:

We have a fantastic opportunity to work within the Octopus Energy Group Finance Team, with a presence in over 18 countries the role is diverse in its offering as the Group continues to grow.
We are looking for a qualified accountant, reporting to our Group Finance Reporting Manager, offering great exposure to Group consolidation and the inner workings of an expanding global business.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Group Reporting Manager in the preparation of the Group consolidation for monthly reporting internally and to shareholders, including inter-company account reconciliation, IFRS adjustments and working alongside Strategic Finance as appropriate
  • Provide accounting guidance to ensure compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS standards and support in the transition of subsidiaries to FRS101
  • Assist in transformation and digitization, you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of such projects carving out processes and controls in tandem with new technology, in the shape of ERP systems and consolidation tools
  • Preparation, review and analysis of the monthly management accounts for the Group Company, including profit and loss reports and balance sheet schedules, providing commentary and analysis on the actuals and querying outputs as needed
  • Support in the preparation and co-ordination of the Group’s reporting process, statutory consolidation and associated IFRS Group Financial Statement and Annual Report
  • Liaise with the external audit team, assisting with queries and facilitating with the year-end process,
  • Provide technical accounting insight, composing technical summary papers for complex accounting transactions, staying up to date with the development of all accounting treatments and reporting standards and advising senior management and the Board on the impact that such changes may have on the business,
  • Helping to ensure that accounting policies are applied consistently throughout theGroup, liaising with the divisional finance teams to streamline processes and enhance efficiencies,
  • Support in strategic projects such as ESG, finance transformation, system implementation and future M&A activity,
  • Regular dealing with department heads and other senior members of the Group on a variety of financial matters
