Were looking for a Group Financial Controller to join our national team, based at our Blackpool office, where we can work together to Optimise the worlds transition to net zero and beyond. This role attracts a salary between £55,000 - £65,000 per annum DOE.
Whilst developing and maintaining strategic relationships across the group were looking for someone who will apply their expertise and play a crucial role in driving our business growth and shaping the future of renewable energy. You’ll work alongside a passionate and innovative Finance team dedicated to making a positive impact on the planet.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Group Financial Controller within Optimised, you will be responsible for the overall financial health of the company, ensuring that its financial resources are managed effectively to support business growth and achieve its strategic objectives.
We are seeking a qualified accountant, with hands on, operational experience to join our dynamic team of 6 Finance professionals, spread across 4 locations, working in a hybrid environment. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and support a team of two Management Accountants, ensuring seamless financial operations and fostering a collaborative and positive working atmosphere. You’ll need to be comfortable with the routine nature of finance but also able to think on your feet when faced with new challenges.
We value a balance between flexibility and teamwork, so while much of the role can be performed remotely, we are looking for someone who can be present in the office at least 3 days a week. Your presence will be essential in building strong relationships with your colleagues and providing hands-on support to the team.

WHAT YOULL ACTUALLY DO

  • Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Recruit, train, and develop talent within the finance department.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and support to the CFO and senior management team.
  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of group financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business growth and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with banks, investors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans and budgets.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, treasury, and tax.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP).
  • Manage cash flow and optimise working capital.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, including credit, market, and operational risks.
  • Develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business growth and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with banks, investors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Visible and approachable leadership presence, build your teams confidence to achieve commercial results and high-quality standards while identifying high potential leaders and completing succession planning.
  • Actively promote and support ongoing recognition with your team and recommendations for through-year recognition and awards.
  • Inspirational in delivering and messaging the companys mission and vision.
  • Support managers in the provision of Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Adhere to company policy, guidelines and standard operating procedures.
