EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 10+ years of combined accounting and finance experience, preferably in a service-based environment supported by technology platforms.
  • Experience supporting a Technology division and/or capital investment processes is highly regarded.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to inspire confidence and motivate teams at all levels.
  • Proven leadership skills in selecting, developing, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Highly organized with extensive experience in board-level reporting and global financial planning.
  • Global mindset with experience in multi-currency environments and complex organizational structures.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to drive process re-engineering, program management, and technology implementation.Proficiency in cube-based Financial Planning, Business Intelligence tools, and ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Group Head of FP&A reports to the CFO and partners with the ELT to ensure the business is on track to deliver its strategic and financial goals through excellent reporting, analysis and planning processes. This position plays a critical role in driving the financial planning and performance management functions across MUFG Pension & Market Services (MPMS).
This leadership role encompasses overseeing the board and committee reporting processes, managing the budget and forecasting activities, and designing and implementing enterprise performance management cadence across the Group. In addition, the role will provide commercial and financial support to members of the ELT, primarily CTO, CRO, CPO, General Counsel and CFO, being accountable for all business partnering across these functions.
This role will be responsible for a diverse team covering the above-mentioned FP&A activities as well as developing investment frameworks and analysis (including PIRs), sustainability reporting and group insurance arrangements. This role will have a crucial part to play in the success of the business and delivery of a best-in-class finance function as part of finance leadership team. MPMS is a fast paced, and evolving business and your ability to drive change as part of the finance leadership team will be important.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Focus:

  • Partner with the CFO to develop short and long-term strategic financial objectives aligned with MPMS’s business strategy.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to Executive Management, supporting planning initiatives with comprehensive financial data, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Design and implement integration strategies for acquisitions within the MPMS framework.
  • Support global finance strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with MPMS’s financial objectives.Conduct competitor analysis to benchmark MPMS performance.

Operational Management:

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial analysis of budgets, trends, and forecasts, preparing board reports and highlighting business drivers and variances.
  • Own the production of critical committee papers such as Business Operating Committee and Finance and Investment Committee Papers.
  • Develop KPI reporting, trend analysis, management information systems, and weekly reporting.
  • Manage month-end accruals and support annual and half-year statutory financial statement preparation.Lead the annual budget process and ensure accuracy of cost-center budgets.

People Leadership:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing FP&A team through effective communication, collaboration, coaching, talent management, and succession planning.
  • Act as a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, promoting a high-performance culture and exemplifying MPMS values.Foster strong relationships with Divisional FP&A teams, Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, and Finance Systems teams.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining the integrity and reputation of MPMS.Drive achievement of business objectives while upholding regulatory compliance standards.
