Job Description
Group Head of Portfolio Analytics
Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid working.

The Group Head of Portfolio Analytics will lead the group wide Portfolio Analytics function, that of which provides action orientated analysis of existing individual Debt Purchase portfolios/acquisitions to a variety of stakeholders to support the strategic needs of the business, e.g. to Operations concerning characteristic trends, account management and performance of select portfolios to date, to generate recommendations to optimise their net collections going forward.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the group wide Portfolio Analytics function and direct leadership of the associated team located across three regions and six European countries.
  • Responsible for the production of action orientated analysis of select individual Debt Purchase portfolios acquired by Lowell, to support the group’s Debt Purchase business and specific needs of key stakeholders
  • Facilitate the design and fulfilment of Lowell’s Debt Purchase strategy, including a general responsibility to help preserve and nourish the wellbeing of the company by providing portfolio level analysis to directly support the origination of new business, the pricing of new acquisitions, and the revaluation, operational management and performance of existing Debt Purchase portfolios.
  • Define and realise the Portfolio Analytics team’s group wide strategy, to advance the function as necessary to support the company’s broader Debt Purchase strategy and medium-term plan.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the group to directly support the fulfilment of the Portfolio Analytics team’s mandate and strategy, including the design, implementation and maintenance of robust tools and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead a team of c.10 specialists in data analytics, managing capacity effectively to provide output to a range of stakeholders as necessary to support their goals.
  • Present reports and findings from the Portfolio Analytics team to a variety of internal fora, as well as externally to clients.

What we need from you:

  • Practitioner/manager background likely to include 10+ years of experience in a data analysis field, preferably within Financial Services and relating to the assessment of commercial performance, including 4+ years of managing teams.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and commercial awareness, combined with an ability to act and influence at a strategic level beyond role boundaries, in order to help guide and fulfil the company’s goals in addition to satisfying key stakeholder requirements.
  • Track record of being able to define departmental strategy, and deliver associated objectives, in order to fulfil the function’s core remit and advance its capabilities to support the company in achieving its wider strategic goals.
  • Excellent skill set concerning data analysis in the context of understanding the connections between portfolio characteristics, operational activities, and performance.
  • Experience of using data to drive insight, engage stakeholders and facilitate robust decision making.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry accounting concepts (e.g. the application of an Effective Interest Rate on owned assets to derive yield based earnings).
  • Experience with one or more structured programming languages for statistical and/or numeric computing is essential.
  • Experience of working in a dynamic commercial environment, facing numerous simultaneous deliverables at any one time, often characterised by short timescales and shifting priorities.
