Group leader in Natural Language Processing (Postdoc)

The “Semantic Databases” research group headed by Prof. Dr. Philipp Cimiano conducts research in the field of semantic technologies. The group researches methods of automatic language processing (NLP), in particular in the areas of information extraction, question answering, temporal and common sense reasoning. In addition, the group conducts research on topics of knowledge representation, especially ontologies, and develops new methods for entity linking, link prediction and ontology alignment.
The group is looking for a postdoctoral researcher who can independently set up and lead a group on Natural Language Processing. The group leader is expected to build up an independent research profile in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and to publish the research work at international conferences (e. g. ACL, EMNLP, COLING, AAAI).

The research of the group leader should be compatible with the research topics of the Semantic Computing WG. Possible research topics include:

• Robustness and security of large language models for NLP
• Ethical aspects and FAIRness in NLP procedures
• Fine-tuning and transfer learning for the adaptation of LLMs
• LLMs for information extraction
• Auto-ML for LLMs
• Argument Mining
• Common Sense Knowledge for NLP
• Temporal Reasoning for NLP

Your Tasks

• research tasks (75 %)
• research in the field of Natural Language Processing
• development of new methods and procedures in the field of NLP
• publication of research results
• presentation of results at international conferences
• acquisition of third-party funding
• participation in peer reviewing, conference organization, etc.
• teaching in the field of NLP (25 %) including supervision of doctoral candidates and students as well as supervision of theses (Bachelor and Master)

Your Profile

• completed scientific university degree
• excellent (at least magna cum laude) doctorate in the field computer science, computational linguistics, data science or a related field
• excellent publication record at international conferences (e. g. ACL, EMNLP, CoNLL, AAAI, COLING)
