As an Operations organization, we aim to make doing business with Microsoft easy. EMEA Field Operations (FO) is part of Microsoft Business Operations (MBO).
Microsoft Business Operations (MBO) launches, transacts, optimizes, and closes gaps for the Company through an Operations Delivery Life Cycle (ODLC). We transact using a continuously modernizing performance engine for Microsoft’s existing commercial businesses, and we close gaps to accelerate the success of Microsoft’s emerging businesses and organic ventures.
Our Field Operations (FO) team works with local Sales & Marketing teams to provide operational services that include end-to-end deal management, advisory, construct and most efficient path for order-to-cash & post support realization.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Group Manager – Operations Deal Management is a people manager role and will work closely in conjunction with 1) Operational Deal Management (ODM) teams across EMEA; 2) key Field (Sales and Marketing) leaders & other stakeholders across EMEA; 3) Other ODM Group Managers managing other markets; 4) Peers from Field Operations Managers (FOMs), Partner Business Management, Transact Services Management and other peers.

The expected impact from this role includes:

  • Organizational Leadership: Be the leader that 1) enables a successful ODM team, achieving maximum business value 2) fosters global thinking, to evolve the global ODM organization for greater efficiency and broader impact 3) enables a diverse and inclusive environment within EMEA Business Operations, where great talent is developed and maximum potential is realized.
  • Deal Advisory & Management: Enable a very efficient end-to-end deal advisory engine through ODMs (enabling & unblocking vital operational touch points) that engages sales teams in each market, at desired timelines per deal maturity & related upstream steps (including influence & shape deal construct for transformational business deals). Engage across organizations to resolve complex deal issues as needed. Enable clear and concise communications to senior field & operations LT.
  • Market understanding & Amplify the Voice: At any given point of time, have a clear view of what is critical to success for Microsoft EMEA markets, evolving strategies to adapt by understanding customer & business trends etc. Amplify the voice of operations to field leadership and vice-versa from field to operations leadership on how Operations is (or needs to) enable / unblocks issues in each market (in close partnership with FOMs where needed).
  • Quarterly planning & execution: Have a disciplined planning & execution rhythm for ODM scope for each quarter in advance of the quarter, with the full team aligned and clear on their role to deliver.
  • Close Management: Engage, enable and sustain a very tight fiscal close review rhythm with sales leadership across markets to 1) keep high focus on critical business deals, deal construct shaping, arrival and processing 2) ensure deal volumes are timely and qualitative 3) efficient processing through the operations process steps and 4) rich and focused communications from ODM to sales teams.
  • Organizational Leadership: Be the leader that enables 1) a successful ODM team realizing optimum business value 2) global thinking on evolving the global ODM organization to be more efficient and deliver richer impact 3) a diverse and inclusive environment within EMEA Business Operations where great talent is developed and realizes their maximum potential.

The candidate is comfortable working in a highly matrixed, multinational organization, exhibits outstanding people management, organizational, planning, communication, judgement and negotiation skills, uses data and analytics to drive performance insights and improvements, and has a strong customer and compliance focus.

MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND significant work experience in program management, process management, process improvement OR equivalent experience.
  • Extensive management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.
  • Extensive experience leading and managing teams.
  • A fluent command of the English language both verbal & written communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Deep expertise and proven ability for planning, scheduling & coordinating to transform the business.
  • Demonstrated excellence in thought leadership, decision-making, influence and process execution management.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency working with large data sets (structured and unstructured) and relational databases. Track record of successful delivery of complex global solutions to support enterprise business objectives.
  • Experience in use of BPM, Six Sigma, Lean, Agile and/or Scrum Methodologies modeling as-is and to-be processes.
  • Business Process Management (BPM) certified and experience with the Quote to Cash lifecycle (quotes, agreements, orders, adjustments) execution and support.
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel driving achievement of business goals, metrics and problem resolution.
  • Negotiation and prioritization skills.
  • Industry experience in Technology/AI, Cloud and/or Supply Chain, Compliance/Controls.
