General:
Job Title: Group Reporting Accountant – 6 Month FTC
Location: London, Birmingham, Dublin
Key Relationships: Finance, IFRS17 Finance Team, External auditors and external consultant.
Job Summary: The group team plays a key part in delivering the year end group financial statements for Beazley. The Group Accountant role will be working alongside the Head of Group and Statutory Reporting, Group Financial Controller, IFRS 17 Finance Manager and a wide range of stakeholders across the business. The primary responsibilities are supporting the quarter end close/year end process, maintaining Balance Sheet reconciliation and production of the annual report and other group key deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the year-end process of the annual financial statements of Beazley Plc including intercompany elimination, production of the investment working and preparation & review of the Balance sheet reconciliation;
  • Supporting the Group reporting deliverables on a quarterly basis;
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements ensuring they are compliant with the accounting standards;
  • Supporting Technical accounting activities such as monitoring IFRS 17 requirements and communicating closely with the IFRS 17 Finance Manager if any changes arise;
  • Working closely and collaboratively with other Finance Teams, especially the IFRS 17 Team;
  • Assisting to ensure that the completion/review of the financial control activities within the Group team;
  • Communicating closely with the external auditor during the interim and annual reporting periods; and
  • Any other Ad hoc tasks requested by the key stakeholders

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships at all levels
  • Computer skills – Excel and MS office
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to make recommendations for improvements to processes and outlining potential solutions to challenges faced withing the project
  • Ability to work at both detailed and summary level
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified general insurance accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • A good understanding of regulatory standards especially for insurance
  • Experience liaising with auditors and third party consultancies
  • External audit experience either as part of an an udit team or as part as a finance team
  • Agile delivery / project delivery
