Description:

WHAT WE DO.

Bakkavor is a FTSE 250 listed business, with £2.2bn of revenue and is the market leader in the UK fresh prepared food industry. We supply meals, salads, desserts, pizza and bread to leading grocery retailers including Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, and also have operations internationally in the US and China.

Responsibilities:

  • Weekly & monthly financial reporting:
  • Ownership of the Group Consolidation and production of monthly Group consolidated statutory accounts for review by the CFO.
  • Preparation of monthly slides forming part of the Board Pack.
  • Review of the Group’s weekly P&L results ahead of distribution to the Management Board. External reporting – half year and full year:
  • Deliver the half-yearly and annual Group statutory results including the primary financial statements and disclosure notes.
  • Responsible for managing the external audit timelines and deliverables; including planning when key activities take place through the financial year and liaising with local businesses to streamline the audit process
  • To support the Group Senior Reporting Manager in managing the audit requirements across the business, notably UK site and regional financial controllers
  • To prepare accounting papers on key issues for the auditors
  • Assist the Group Senior Reporting Manager and Group Financial Controller in preparing the Annual Report, along with briefing information for the CFO, CEO and Board.
  • Subsidiary statutory accounts:
  • Ownership of preparing annual statutory accounts for all UK subsidiary companies, including those forming part of bank covenant submissions in line with the relevant deadlines
  • Ownership of the audit of the subsidiary accounts, liaising directly with the auditors, managing the timetable and any issues
  • Management of the Group’s IFRS16 leases; ensuring the IFRS16 balance sheet and P&L impact is calculated correctly
  • Key contact for the Group’s consolidation and management reporting tool (Cognos); maintenance of group structure, reports, forms and data as well as assisting local business with best practices.
  • Review of new accounting standards and ownership of implementation of new standards across the Group. Brief senior stakeholders on new standards, impact and timescale for implementation
  • Supporting the CFO, Group Financial Controller, Group Senior Reporting Manager and local Financial Controllers with ad hoc analysis and assistance; such as fair value adjustments, calculation of profits / losses on disposals and restructuring
  • Management of the Group Assistant Accountant to achieve these accountabilities
