Description:
Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is one of the largest human services providers in California that operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources needed to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.
Catholic Charities operates 18 community centers and eight homeless shelters and also serves the poor with multi-faceted programs, including: after-school child care; immigration, refugee, youth employment and psychological services; homework assistance and tutoring; English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Education diploma (GED) classes for adults; and services for homebound seniors and pregnant and parenting youth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of college required; Bachelor’s Degree in human or social services preferred
- One to three years of related experience to include working in a Lead position
- Experience working with the homeless population
- Must be able to work in a Fast-Paced, High-Intensity environment.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, team members and supervisors.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License, Class C, Auto Insurance, and willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to use independent judgment and initiative.
- Must be organized and maintain accurate and orderly records.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, (evening shift 4:00 pm – 12:30 am)
Responsibilities:
- Prepares schedules of work assignments for team staff.
- Prepares and implements activity schedules for clients participating in team programs.
- Trains, assigns, and evaluates team staff in assigned duties, including crisis intervention, case management, intakes, referrals, and other child care functions.
- Performs duties of Group Worker I as needed.
- Communicates and serves as team liaison with other Shelter staff to facilitate service delivery, and improvements of program services.
- Promotes continuous quality improvement and service delivery that is aligned with the Agency’s mission.
- Provides crisis intervention counseling and outreach services.
- Participates in outreach to meet with and counsel youths on the street, including putting up flyers to attract clients.
- Transport and supervise clients.
- Answer phone calls, give phone counseling when necessary.
- Displays sensitivity to the client population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
