Job Description
Construction of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant will commence over the coming months and the project is expected to be completed in 2029. To help us construct the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant we will need some of Perth’s top professionals to join our team.
One of the key roles we are seeking to recruit is a GRP Piping Inspector.
You will be responsible for inspecting, quality control and ensuring delivery of the GRP piping for the project. There will be frequent visits to the manufacturing facilities abroad, ensuring that the products meet the specification and quality standards required.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the GRP manufacturing process is aligned with the approved isometrics and drawings.
  • To monitor the GRP manufacturing process and ensure it is in accordance with the manufacturing schedule.
  • To ensure that all the raw material used during the manufacturing process matches the technical specifications and follows the QC requirements.
  • To check and follow the technical delivery information with the design team to ensure that the manufacturing drawings are detailed and approved on time.
  • To revise the GRP pipe spools manufactured to assure that the dimensions are in line with the approved drawings.
  • To monitor the ITP´s related to the GRP manufacturing including the factory test acceptance, pressure tests, etc
  • To manage the 3rd Party inspection at the factory and sign off the inspection process.
  • Weekly reporting to the Project technical and expediting team about the manufacturing status. Highlighting any issues, concerns or delays.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in GRP pipe manufacturing and GRP pipe pre spooling at the factory
  • Experience in GRP pipe installation on site, lamination by BUTT & WRAP JOINTING METHOD, and repair procedures.
  • Skill in interpretation and understanding of isometric pipe drawings, 3D models and other technical drawings related with the GRP pipes.
  • Methodical person with ability to manage technical documents and procedures.
  • Good communications skills and ability to transmit and explain technical information.
