Description:

OVERVIEW:

The GRP Repairs and Quality Technician will focus on ensuring the quality and finish of RS Electric Boats products as they transition through various production stages. This role will primarily involve hands-on GRP and Gel Coat repairs and rework, with a strong emphasis on maintaining quality standards. The technician will work from the main site in Hamble, with regular travel to the Cowes and Ventnor workshops where hulls are produced. The technician will also be responsible for the quality of the fit-out of the boats in progress at the Hamble fit-out location. This includes completing the PDI from upon completion of boats prior to customer collection.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team to achieve quality and production goals.
  • GRP and Gel Coat Expertise: Proven experience in GRP and Gel Coat repairs, including brush and spray application techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on quality, with the ability to identify and rectify imperfections.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards.
  • PDI Competence: Familiarity with Pre-Delivery Inspection processes and documentation.
  • Driving and Towing: Full, clean driving licence with towing capabilities.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel regularly between production sites and occasionally to customer locations.

Responsibilities:

  • GRP and Gel Coat Rework: Perform high-quality GRP and Gel Coat repairs using both brush and spray techniques to maintain the overall quality and finish of products. Ensure rework tasks are completed efficiently and align with production standards.
  • Quality Inspections: Inspect the GRP finish of hulls before they are shipped to the fit-out facility. Once in fit out boats require QC and QA at various production stages to identify and address quality issues promptly, ensuring readiness for the next production phase or customer delivery.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Complete and manage PDI forms to document and resolve any identified issues before boats leave the production site.
  • Site Coordination and Boat Transport: Handle the movement of boats between production sites and the final fit-out location (Cowes and Ventnor to Hamble) integrating transport tasks with rework and quality checks to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Process Feedback: Provide feedback to production teams regarding recurring quality issues and collaborate on process improvements to optimise product quality and reduce rework needs.
