Harvest Meats is a leader in meat processing, with over 95 years of innovation, dedication and quality. Our facility in Yorkton Saskatchewan produces all of the Harvest Meats products sold and distributed across Canada.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time permanent HACCP / Quality Assurance Technician to join the Food Safety and Quality Assurance team at the Yorkton facility to collaborate with supervisors and inspectors on food safety issues, procedures and related activities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in either Food Science, Agriculture or related sciences or equivalent experience in a related role is preferred.
- Previous work experience in food safety, HACCP and/or QA would be considered an asset.
- Prior knowledge of HACCP, Quality Assurance, GMP’s, 3rd Party Audit requirements such as BRC, SQF or GFSI would be considered an asset.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to navigate challenging situations with diplomacy and tact
- Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Effective self-managing, good problem solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills.
- Demonstrated strong networking and interpersonal skills.
- Able to mentor and guide team members throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Continuously sustain and improve the HACCP system.
- Maintain the HACCP program, related SOP’s and all required updates to the prerequisite programs according to changes in CFIA regulations, FSEP, or new production processes.
- Update and review of HACCP records, taking action on records that have shown deficiencies or recurring issues.
- Perform HACCP verifications/monitoring procedures, as well as quality assessments of product.
- Conduct listeria swabbing and finished product sample collection.
- Train new employees on HACCP procedures and company policies in food plant hygiene.
- Collaborate with CFIA Inspectors and department staff when resolving food safety issues, and during tasks assigned as part of the compliance verification system
