Description:

Applications are invited for a Hand Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) or Occupational Therapist (AOT) to join the Hand Therapy team and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at University College London Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity to work at band 8b in an established hand unit alongside consultants in the hand trauma and elective clinics.
The APP performs as an autonomous expert musculoskeletal practitioner, undertaking a specific clinical case load in the assessment and treatment of patients with highly complex hand presentations. They use advanced clinical reasoning skills to determine clinical diagnoses and ongoing management.
The APP is responsible for assessing and managing simple closed injury new referrals and reviewing simple post-surgical patients. They also work alongside the consultant team to assess and treat GP referrals common elective hand conditions. This includes requesting imaging and nerve conduction studies, listing for surgery and, if able, providing steroid injection therapy.
The ESP leads the development and provision of services related to complex MSK, in particular hand conditions, within the organisation. They lead research and audit activity for hand and wrist.
