Description:
Saab Sensor Technology Center in Tampere is part of Surveillance organization unit at Saab. The R&D teams are developing extremely complex and innovative electronic warfare systems, motivated by a clear target: to keep people safe. As an example of a brilliant product that we are developing in Tampere, check out Sirius Compact!
We have an excellent software development team full of both experienced professionals and growing juniors, but are still eagerly looking for new colleagues to join us and help us make some awesome high-tech stuff! Backlog is full for years to come, and there are many roles and tasks available in the SW team, which we can tailor together based on your expertise and career ambitions.
Currently we are looking for a more seasoned SW Developer, with experience on embedded software development and also ambition and capability to steer a work stream towards targets. We need a person who can walk in, see what needs to be done, and jump directly at it with the team. In addition to the hands-on implementation of top quality software, you’ll work closely with other teams (system engineering, RF, HW, testing) to figure out what the software needs to do and how the system should work. You get to work with absolutely cutting-edge technologies, and are guaranteed to learn something new along the way!
Your profile
So, what do you need to bring to the table?
First and foremost, you’ve got to be an expert in C++ and have a solid understanding of embedded systems. You should have experience with embedded operating systems like Linux and ideally also with RTOS. We appreciate if you are familiar with Yocto (or other build system), digital signal processing, and of course any additional programming know-how on top of C++ is a plus.
Being comfortable with agile software development processes is expected, and familiarity with DevOps and CI considered valuable. Previous experience on scrum master, product owner, project management, or other lead position is greatly valued.
Would be good to know your way around hardware interfaces and communication protocols and have some knowledge about FPGAs. Familiarity with tools like JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers will help you to participate in debugging more efficiently, but is not mandatory.
Tasks can be tailored based on your expertise, so don’t hesitate to apply and see where it takes us. We appreciate if you accompany your application with a motivation letter, giving us an insight on what you can do, would like to do and learn, and which kind of role and responsibilities you would be interested in.
In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defense secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.
What you will be part of
Our development projects offer a wide range of interesting opportunities to grow and challenge yourself within different phases in product development cycle, from specification to laboratory and qualification testing. On top of joining a team of highly talented professionals and fun people, we offer you competitive benefit package, including full lunch benefit, exercise & culture benefit, gym facilities, transport related options, and many more. We also value a good work-life balance and offer our employees flexible working hours.
Since Saab is a global company, this role requires fluent communication (in English) with colleagues abroad, and may require some travelling (mainly short visits to Sweden occasionally).
