Description:
HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER
Board Solutions being a one stop key provider of hardware development tools and in NXP, which has been supporting both the design, manufacture and supply chain of the hardware developer tools. Our integrated hardware development solutions for embedded microprocessors have been widely adopted by customers worldwide. NXP extends the hardware manufacturing operation in Guadalajara to support the New Production Introduction (NPI), system design, hardware manufacturing & system integration.
We now offer the technical position of Hardware Design Engineer for NXP’s Board Solutions Group in Mexico , responsible for all aspect of hardware board design from the concept and design to manufacture, testability, safety and quality of the hardware products.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics, product & industrial design, or related filed, Master is a preferred.
- Minimum of 1 years experiences in hardware board design or equivalent working experience in a design/manufacturing environment.
- Understand system level design including mechanical, thermal, PCBA, cabling, PSU, firmware, etc.
- Understand manufacturing process and quality requirement. Understand DFx process.
- Solid high speed digital signal design and test experience are required.
- Solid understanding of electronics components are required.
- Understand regulatory requirement and experience with compliance test like FCC / CE.
- Master Cadence tools including Allegro and OrCAD.
- Ability to do SI/PI (Mixed Signal / Analog / Digital / RF / Wireless) simulation and analysis is a PLUS.
- Prior experience with CPLD/FPGAs in implementing advanced HW control / monitoring / logging is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of RF design (NFC, LTE, Wi-Fi, WiMAX) is an advantage.
- Good technical and analytical skill with ability to perform electronic system trouble shooting and debug effectively.
- Experience in Ethernet switch, router, wireless charging, embedded systems, power meter, RF and wireless, Touchpad/Touch-screen system development will be an extreme advantage.
- Knowledge in CPLD design, micro-Controller programming, Linux programming will be an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good teamwork adaptability, good oral and written English skills, self-motivated.
- Have a determined mindset and personal commitment to high quality work with schedule.Ability to occasional travel on an ‘as required’ basis.

Responsibilities:
- Utilize the NXP Component Library (NCL) to reuse design methodologies and leverage exiting designs and components for future projects and collaborate with CAD Library team to implement NCL improvements
- Provide design expertise and regional support for BU silicon, application teams, and third parties
- Define architecture to implement design per Technical Requirements Document (TRD)
- Drive standards for schematics, logic symbols, design for test, design for manufacturing, and certifications
- Create preliminary parts list (PPL), schematics, layout requirements, and BOM; Submit, archive and release these items through Agile meeting quality and schedule requirements
- Work with Marketing, Applications, CAD, Product Engineer, Test Engineer, and Manufacturing Program Manager to create a quality manufacturable product
- Complete Design Verification Test (DVT) in conjunction with BU, software teams, and test engineering
- Participate in peer reviews of schematics and layouts to improve products across the Board Solutions Group.
- Drive innovations in design process and design IP reuse, and provide training and promotion for new technologies and methodologies to BU design teams
- Implement designs that are competitive with industry standards, high quality, cost effective, and delivered on time
- Improve core competency in board design technologies
- Escalate design related issues to Hardware Design Manager.
