LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS IN QUEBEC
Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of the Infrastructure Engineering team, the Hardware Qualification Lead candidate will be directly involved in the design and development of best-in-class product solutions that maintain Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed martin)’s robust position in the Naval market space. As a Hardware Engineer with focus on environmental qualification, this role is accountable to plan and coordinate all qualification activities including assessing and managing qualification related risks and opportunities.
The candidate must be able to lead by demonstrating core competencies with the planning and execution of qualification engineering, having interest in novel technologies, supporting work estimates, proposing improvements, conducting risk analysis and supporting design reviews to optimize hardware design.
Specific role responsibilities include:
- Produce and lead execution of the hardware qualification program including:
- Planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution scope for:
- Sub-assembly and/or assembly pre-qualification (pre-screen) activities
- Qualification for Environmental, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Shock, Vibration, and TEMPEST.
- Deliver documentation related to Qualification, including Statement of Work (SOW)/Purchase Order (PO) for lab services, test plans, procedures, test results and documenting issues found
- Identify key risk items within the hardware design that will require qualification pre-screening to reduce risk and/or inform design
- Identify technical, cost, and schedule risks and opportunities within the hardware development and qualification program
- Identify necessary test fixturing, special tools, cabling, software, and other equipment required to execute Qualification program.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- Possesses a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related area of study
- Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in hardware engineering
- Experience with and ability to conduct detailed planning, scheduling, management, and execution of hardware qualification program
- Detailed understanding of test equipment needs to support qualification program
- Familiarity with qualification-related engineering standards such as MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-167 1A, MIL-STD-901E or equivalent experience
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff and personnel assigned to related work
- Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
- Have a high degree of initiative and autonomy
- Have a high learning ability
- Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED FOR THE ROLE
- 7+ years of experience would be ideal
- Experience with performing Earned Value Management (EVM) to manage cost, schedule, and performance
- Experience with Atlassian Jira or similar task planning and execution toolset
- Experience with IBM Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) or similar requirements database toolset.
