Description:

Summary/objective

  • Inspect and sample commodities. Weigh incoming and outgoing commodities. Greet and assist customers and vendors. Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.

Essential functions

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Inspect, weigh and sample silage and/or commodities.
  • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks carrying commodities either through the CMS system or manually.
  • Distribute copies and file original reports that print daily.
  • Maintain and update necessary spreadsheets for Feedyard Management.
  • Run reports for consulting Nutritionist and Veterinarian, if needed.
  • Greet and assist customers and vendors, if needed.
  • Answer and forward incoming telephone calls.
  • Comply with all ISO/HACCP and OSHA/Safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work environment

  • You will be required to work at times in extreme weather conditions, such as rain, snow, wind, heat, cold.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles.
  • Ability to work nights on occasion, weekends, and holidays.

  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 month’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred education and experience

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software and Internet software.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
