Job Description
We are (CIMA+ Industrial and Building Hygiene Team) looking for a person with relevant experience in hygiene related to projects for the management of hazardous materials (mold, lead, asbestos, crystalline silica, etc.) in buildings, air quality and worker exposure to contaminants.
Under the direction of the Industrial and Building Hygiene Project Manager, the candidate’s main mandate will be to monitor construction sites in the Montreal region, as part of building decontamination work, dust control, confined space entry, etc.
The candidate may also be required to carry out mandates outside the Montreal region, in various regions of Quebec.
In addition to monitoring, the incumbent will also be responsible for carrying out sampling campaigns for the characterization of materials likely to contain asbestos (MSCA), lead and other designated materials. This component includes inspecting the condition of materials, taking samples for laboratory analysis, monitoring results and supporting the project manager in preparing deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a field related to industrial and building hygiene, hazardous materials management or any other relevant experience;
  • Technical training in industrial hygiene, engineering, architecture or other. Academic training at the college level or higher will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in material characterization, sample collection and in the context of decontamination work (in particular in the presence of asbestos, mold, lead, silica, etc.);
  • Experience in site supervision in the presence of contaminants (asbestos, mold, lead, silica, etc.);
  • Fluency in French and knowledge of English (an asset) at the professional level to work with external clients;
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle;

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling campaigns for materials likely to contain asbestos (MSCA) and paints likely to contain lead;
  • Conduct visual inspections of hazardous materials in order to count them and verify their condition;
  • Conduct audits in industrial hygiene, designated materials and indoor air quality (IAQ)
  • Conduct on-site monitoring for hygiene work in order to validate the contractor’s work procedures, conduct general or contaminated dust control (mold, lead, asbestos, crystalline silica, etc.) and conduct control air tests;
  • Inform the project manager of the progress of the work, coordinate visits with the contractor and issue visit reports;
  • Use an electronic tablet for surveys to enter information and locate sampling or observation points;
  • Carry out, under the supervision of the project manager, analysis requests and prepare supplier purchase orders;
  • Participate in the writing and preparation of characterization reports, the photographic report and location plans.
  • Assist the team in carrying out various tasks to contribute to the completion of projects;
