Join our team at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort! We are seeking a Head Chef to lead the culinary operations of our Convention Centre – the region’s largest premier, convention and event venue. This purpose-built facility, featuring extensive hospitality and accommodation options, allows us to deliver tailored solutions for business conventions, exhibitions, and events of up to 1,500 guests.
Our property also boasts over 370 rooms, a refreshing pool, a vibrant lagoon for water activities, and enticing dining options. Job Description
As Head Chef, you’ll oversee the daily culinary operations of our convention centre, from crafting fresh, memorable dishes to enforcing rigorous quality control. You’ll play a crucial role in developing and nurturing your team by designing comprehensive training programs, providing regular feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment where every team member can thrive. Your leadership will empower your team to reach their full potential and contribute significantly to our culinary success.
In addition to team development, you will manage food costs, coordinate with purchasing to meet daily requirements, and adhere to budget guidelines. Your careful planning and inventory control will be key in maintaining profitability while ensuring our culinary standards remain exceptional.

Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role within a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Hands on approach and always acting as a role model
- Ability to manage staff in several sections simultaneously and communicate clearly and concisely
- A solutions focused professional who continuously seeks learning and improvement
- Adaptable to changing situations while maintaining the highest quality of product and other established standards
- Ability to work with minimal external assistance
- True passion for food and an unrelenting drive to provide exceptional event guest experiences.
