Description:
Singapore Baseball & Softball Association (SBSA) is seeking a high-performance coach for the national men’s baseball team. The coach must have prior experience playing the sport at the international level (i.e. represent country) or collegiate level and above in overseas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience playing the sport at the international level (i.e. represent country) or collegiate level and above in overseas
- Strong knowledge of the sport and kept abreast with the latest international/regional climate and game rules
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Technical expertise in baseball
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Past or present baseball coaching certifications from BFA/WBSC
- At least 5 years of coaching experience in baseball at the international or collegiate level
- Previous competitive baseball or softball experience would be an advantage
- Notable coaching accomplishments, such as a medal in Major Games or major tournaments, or a collegiate championship title
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with volunteers and potential assistant coaches or trainers
- Familiarity with Game Changer is an advantage
Responsibilities:
High Performance
- Develop and implement high-performance training and competition plans for elite and age-group teams
- Identify and nurture talent through effective coaching strategies and techniques
- Prepare detailed analyses and reports on training and competition outcomes, aligned with Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Prepare a coach trip report within a month of return, incorporating inputs from the Team Manager
- Ensure athletes maintain discipline, a high level of commitment and adhere to the Athlete’s Agreement and Code of Conduct
- Leverage statistical insights and technological tools (e.g. Game Changer) to enhance player performance, refine game strategies, and drive team success through data-driven decision-making, player development, scouting and continuous innovation
Coaching Development
- Identify and mentor coaching personnel, providing training and development opportunities
- Assist in the holistic development of local coaches and athletes in sports science, character development, and baseball technical and tactical skills
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Undertake all responsibilities with a clear understanding of the SBSA’s Multi-Year Sports Plan and objectives
- Maintain clear communication channels with the team management and SBSA board members as needed
Team Management
- Plan and execute training sessions for the National Men’s Baseball Development Team
- Travel with the team and represent Singapore as the head coach during overseas games and tournaments.
- Collaborate with the National Men’s Baseball Committee to develop tactical strategies tailored to the team’s strengths and needs.
- Develop and implement youth programmes across various age groups (U12, U15, U18, U23) as opportunities arise
