Description:
HEAD OF ACADEMICS – LANGUAGE ADVENTURE
Stanstead College is now accepting applications for the position of Head of Academics for the 2025 Language Adventure summer camp.
Our unique four-week immersion program welcomes students from around the world and includes classroom learning, on-campus activities and off-campus excursions. Our team provides students with a fun and encouraging environment where learning a new language is stimulating and exciting.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Assist the Summer Programs Coordinator with the interviews and hiring of teachers prior to the start of the camp.
- Manage and oversee the academic curriculum, assist, direct, and supervise teachers by strengthening its instructional program.
- Provide leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and planning.
- Carry functional responsibility for the overall performance of the teachers consistent with the expectations of the program.
- Ensure that teachers have access to the necessary support to enable them to contribute fully and develop their skills and experience.
- Collaborate in collecting and analyzing the students’ academic performance throughout the 4-week program, including report cards at the end of the program.
- Prepare activities for two academic trips.
- Prepare a schedule and assign roles for teachers on the testing day and ensure that the day runs smoothly.
- Create an English second language curriculum.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
The Head of Academics will need to always be on campus during the academic program, from Monday to Friday.
The Head of Academics will have the option to board on campus and have meals on campus and will be required to hold one to two meetings with teachers before the first day of camp (dates to be determined). Additional hours include opening and closing weekend.
Qualifications: Language proficiency, strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Curriculum design, assessment techniques, and ESL teaching practices (asset) Experience working in a summer camp and teaching environment (required).
Education level: Teaching degree or current university education student
Start date: June, 2025
End date: August, 2025
