ARE YOU THE RIGHT CANDIDATE?

This is a key role for the BBC and we are looking for an exceptional change leader who has experience of delivering enterprise-wide change and building change capability across an organisation.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience of developing Enterprise Change Management capability and of leading end to end change for large-scale transformational change programmes.
  • Experience of stakeholder management on complex, sensitive programmes and at senior executive levels – demonstrating credibility and impact with senior leaders; adept at using influence and persuasion to gain buy-in to enable change through others.
  • To be a motivated self-starter capable of working independently and / or with other Change Leads from across the business in a matrix structure (including working with, managing and co-ordinating resources that may not directly report to you); capable of influencing decision-making and building trusted relationships across corporate boundaries working closely with other functions and divisions.
  • To have strong leadership capability; this role sits on the Transformation Office leadership team and will provide leadership support to the Director of Transformation, working alongside other TO leaders.
  • Extensive experience of successfully galvanising people/groups to maintain high tempo implementation.
  • Experience of facilitating and monitoring change; able to deal with complexity and ambiguity in a pressured environment; can adapt to changes in business focus and with experience of facilitating change programmes requiring employee relations engagement.
  • Relevant Change Management experience and qualifications, such as: Change Management Institute ACMM (Accredited Change Manager Master); APMG – Change Management Practitioner; MSP Practitioner; or equivalent.

Band: F
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Office base can be any of the main Hubs (i.e. Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, Glasgow, Salford or London). If based outside of London, will require regular travel to London. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working (2 days a week) with home working for the remainder
Salary: anticipated c.£100,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Responsibilities:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Head of Change you will be critical to the success of the transformation agenda, working at the very heart of the organisation, delivering large-scale and lasting change for the workforce. You will work to ensure that we bring colleagues with us on the transformation journey, ensuring they are able to understand the benefits of the change and how it impacts them positively.
You will work closely with key stakeholders and sponsors (often at very senior levels) to deliver on the BBC’s vision and strategy. Managing the case for change and effective communication of the benefits, you will use change as an opportunity to advance business objectives aligned to our vision for the future of the organisation.

In particular you will:

  • consider the organisation’s values, strategy, structure, process and culture when designing change interventions and maintain a long term, strategic and tactical view of change initiatives for the BBC Transformation Office.
  • provide leadership for the implementation of business change activities across the BBC’s broad transformational change agenda, starting with the delivery of a change strategy and approach supported by a key message framework to engage and communicate with colleagues.
  • act as an ambassador for Change Management (CM) internally and externally, you will promote and demonstrate the value of CM within the BBC to encourage wide ownership and accountability for delivering the BBC’s strategic change agenda and develop positive relationships including: leading and co-ordinating pan-BBC change networks, resource groups and communities.
  • through the design and application of good practice CM techniques and activities, be responsible for planning change interventions, building BBC change management capability, implementing change activities and ensuring the desired change outcomes are realised
