Responsibilities:
ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, Cascais, a distinguished member of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Chemistry to lead our Chemistry department. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leadership and Management: Lead the Chemistry department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and resource allocation to ensure high-quality education.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive Chemistry curriculum aligned with Cambridge International and forthcoming IB standards, fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging and challenging Chemistry lessons to students from Years 7 to 13, ensuring excellence in academic outcomes.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments that accurately measure student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual learning needs and preparing students for top examination performance.
- Professional Development: Mentor and support Chemistry teachers, facilitating professional growth and promoting best practices within the department.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and contribute to the school’s academic initiatives.
- Student Engagement: Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities related to Chemistry, such as science clubs, competitions, and field trips.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Chemistry curriculum and teaching methods, implementing improvements as necessary to maintain the highest standards.
