Description:

The role of the Head of Commercial Controlling is to oversee the commercial controlling functions across all our European plants (spanning eight clusters). Reporting directly to the Head of Performance Steering and Financial Planning & Analysis within Flat Finance, his/her key tasks include:

  • Performing strategic reviews and analyses of profitability by main product line or production line in Flat Europe.
  • Comparing profitability across various clusters and providing insight and analysis regarding areas of improvement from products profitability across clusters
  • Providing consolidated sales information/orderbook profitability for segment and clusters. EBITDA and Contribution Margin oriented orderbook enrichment and steering by margin.
  • Conducting quarterly reviews of commercial profitability alongside Cluster CEOs.
  • Providing strategic input to enhance sales performance through an analysis of pricing indices, model standardization, and optimal order book allocation.
  • Co-directing the Crystal Community, which consists of approximately 25 individuals from the clusters and central team, aimed at improving process efficiency and data quality related to differential costs.
  • Overseeing the management of the Sales Margin Reporting platform.
  • Assisting with the submission of Trade cases to the European Commission including Antidumping, Safeguards, Countervailing measures, Carbon Border Tax, and others.
  • Tracking and following essential KPIs like shipments, pricing, spreads, CSI, top products, market share, steel margin/profitability, including studies on marginal sales, contribution margins, and monitoring external slab purchases.
  • Coordinating the overall Transfer Pricing strategy for the entire Flat sector, ensuring a balance of interests while adhering to tax regulations.
  • Advancing financial processes by leading initiatives centered around automation (ACE, SMAR, Crystal, FAST) and developing new models (TOC), with particular emphasis on managing logistic costs through ongoing reporting and oversight.
  • Handling specific business case evaluations such as Franchise profitability and addressing urgent ad-hoc requests/analyses required by senior management.
  • Leading a cross-functional team of commercial controllers located across different clusters and the headquarters, comprising of 9 team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Engineering; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management and controlling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
