  • Unique opportunity to join the Aon Asia Pacific Law & Compliance team to lead compliance professionals to support the Aon Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) business.
  • You will enable growth by striving to drive compliance, train, monitor, provide assurance and manage risks within Aon Australia, liaising across the Asia Pacific region as one team and supporting Aon’s enterprise risk management framework.
  • The role is a full time permanent opportunity based in Aon’s Sydney office with some flexibility to work remotely at times.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LEAD TO SUCCESS

  • Operational compliance management experience with exposure to financial services including general insurance or insurance broking.
  • Process orientated with an interest in use of technology to aid delivery of compliance services in the most effective and scalable manner with fact-based analysis.
  • Tertiary degree or equivalent in law, finance, business, or commerce.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team onshore and offshore.
  • Demonstrated capacity for commercial oriented problem solving.
  • Process improvement orientated, and ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • A proven track record in regulatory change in the financial services environment gained with demonstrated experience in regulatory change management.
  • Ability to influence and articulate strategy in a straightforward and amiable manner that encourages partnership and general teamwork across the enterprise.
  • Skilled in drafting succinct, logical, well explained and comprehensive decisions and explain complex compliance, regulatory and legal concepts in plain English for lay audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting growth strategies for Aon Australia and PNG by ensuring that how clients are served, vendors are engaged with, and all colleagues’ interactions are compliant, and risk managed. Overall, to encourage sustainable business in a thriving inclusive environment, protect Aon’s existing business, brand, and reputation, whilst ensuring Aon acts in clients’ best interests.
  • Play an active role in evolving and supporting Aon’s global compliance strategy aligned to meet local regulations in a scalable and efficient manner.
  • Leading and inspiring the Australian compliance team through driving global goals locally applied and ensuring talent is retained and careers are developed via talent management, providing on-going feedback and review of performance.
  • Maintaining Aon’s global Policies and relevant local addenda.
  • Driving fact-based progress of compliance programs and their effectiveness, collaborating with global Compliance Operations to find ways to drive efficient reporting and compliance assurance.
  • Overseeing the assessment of new laws, regulations and trends in Australia and PNG and their applicability and implementation to Aon’s operations to ensure that all relevant risks are fully identified and managed.
  • Partnering with the Chief Risk Officer Asia Pacific and relevant risk team members to maintain APAC’s risk management framework as part of Aon’s enterprise risk management framework.
  • Supporting regular risk assessments as part of ERM reporting and statutory requirements.
  • Advising relevant Aon Boards and Risk Committees to satisfy all required corporate governance requirements and drive compliance, influencing change in behaviours where required.
  • Proactively supporting and advising on required regulatory change programs in response to new regulatory requirements whether initiated globally or locally.
  • Collaborating with the Law and Compliance Department, Aon Business Services and business leaders to seek new ways of working efficiently and cost effectively to maintain best in class compliance services that are scalable and participating in global change programs as required
