Description:
At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
You will strategically develop and lead the councils cultural, heritage, arts and events strategies and be the lead officer for the implementation of new, innovative and creative cultural, heritage, arts and tourism projects which support the priorities and outcomes of the Swindon Plan. The role will also oversee the development of a Parks Strategy to compliment resident engagement and accessibility to Swindon’s green spaces.
Responsibilities:
On a day-to-day basis, you will represent the council’s interests (acting as commissioner/client in varying relationships) and work with external providers to ensure they make effective contributions to the delivery of Swindon’s priorities on culture, heritage, arts and special events, making Swindon a great place to visit and supporting our ambitious place and growth agenda. The postholder will lead on the management and development of relations with providers, stakeholders, central government and partners (such as Arts Council England, Science Museum & Heritage Lottery) with the objective of achieving continuous improvement in the quality of the services and the expanded offer of activities for residents.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
