Head of Cyber Data Assets

In our cybersecurity team you’ll be helping to safeguard the financial system on which millions of people depend.
You’ll be making banking more secure by designing, implementing, and operating controls to manage cybersecurity risk. You’ll help define HSBC Group cyber security standards, deliver Global Security Operations ad Threat management services, provide round-the-clock monitoring and security incident response services, and oversee Network/Application/Infrastructure Security. The work you do will provid3e assurance of the adequacy and effectiveness of security controls to Business Risk Owners.
The Head of Data Assets will form part of the CSA Design & Governance team, joining a global team of data technology professionals to deliver strategic direction and engineering excellence across the cybersecurity data landscape. The position is a team lead role requiring technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and team management skills, leveraging knowledge of data architecture, data engineering and cybersecurity.
We have established a great team and delivered a valued capability by enabling HSBC to ingest, process and analyse the terabytes of security data generated every day. The next step in our journey is to start thinking in terms of Data Assets. You will help to establish a new team responsible for defining the gold tables in our medallion architecture, the optimized and consumable assets that will enable our users to be more effective. This means understanding the business needs of our users within Cybersecurity, the technical data we ingest from across the estate, and the data engineering required to transform between them. You will be responsible for producing new Data Assets to meet specific needs and identifying opportunities to develop Data Assets for future needs, defining the new data models, delivering the assets by working with data engineers who may be in your team or elsewhere, and working through the governance required to publish and maintain the assets.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, an eagerness to learn, a keen interest in Cybersecurity, the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and an aptitude for picking up new tools and techniques on the job, building on existing skillsets as a foundation.

In this role you will:

  • Develop data models for sharable, reusable Cybersecurity Data Assets
  • Identify use-cases and opportunities, and prioritizing efforts to maximize value
  • Produce high quality data catalogues and documentation
  • Design and build the data pipelines in Azure Databricks to realize your data models
  • Maintain and support the gold layer of the data lake
  • Publish and own shared, reusable Data Assets
  • Define and automate data quality checks and reports to guarantee the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of our Data Assets

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience working in or with cybersecurity teams
  • Broad knowledge of cybersecurity principles and disciplines, e.g. CISSP certification
  • Understanding of IT security and infrastructure technologies, including networks, IAM and cloud
  • Understanding of the cybersecurity concerns of a large enterprise in a highly regulated industry
  • Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as Databricks and Spark
  • Experience working in Azure is nice to have.
  • Hands-on experience working with multi-terabyte data sets, optimizing for performance and cost-efficiency
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and passion for learning.

This role is based in London, Sheffield or Edinburgh.
