JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head of Data, AI and Automation Technologies is responsible for defining and executing the technology teams data and AI strategy, in alignment with the companies strategic approach to data and AI. This requires a deep understanding of critical data needs across the technology organization, and expert knowledge in enabling the latest AI capabilities with a focus on technology specific and enterprise-wide use cases supporting business line priorities. Key to this role is ensuring the highest reliability of data infrastructure, data quality, and security for all data assets and use across the Bank. This role will work in a federated model, supporting and closely coordinating with CIOs and other Technology leaders, and the enterprise AI and Data Centers of Excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters or higher preferred
  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience
  • Knowledge and practical application of agile strongly preferred
  • Advanced leadership skills, including the ability to identify top talent, lead and motivate teams and demonstrate leadership and collaboration among peers
  • Proven ability to Drive AI solutions to unlock automation
  • Risk and controls experience
  • Proven experience building a culture of equity and inclusion through ideas and people
  • Excellent communication and proven ability to synthesize large amounts of date/information to present to executives
  • Proven track record with managing change

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defining and executing on the technology strategies for AI, automation, and data strategies, in alignment with the enterprises strategic approach and COEs for data and AI, and working with Enterprise Architecture to define standards and policies, staying abreast of new developments (and vendors) in the space, and ensuring propagation/dissemination of information across the Technology organization
  • Providing expertise and support to other technology teams responsible for execution working in a federated model to provide AI, automation, and data subject matter expertise to identify and deploy use cases
  • Collaborating with CXOs to integrate data, AI and automation into the overall technology roadmap and outcome metrics
  • Building a data and outcome oriented culture focused on successful execution across the technology team
  • Leading AI technology horizon scanning, vendor engagement, and research initiatives, staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI technologies and methodologies; clearly communicate these insights across the technology team
  • Guiding learning and development programs in this space and help position U.S. Bank as a leader in this space
  • Delivering value through analytics and AI use cases
  • Ensuring data availability, usage, data quality, and data security
  • Managing a small team Data and AI specialists – providing guidance, mentorship and support to team members to foster their professional growth and ensure the success of early use cases in partnership with AI COE
  • Executing appropriate governance across technology and in alignment with the enterprise risk framework and enterprise data governance processes
  • Supporting identification and execution of cost optimization strategies derived from data and AI across the technology organization
  • Working with cross-functional leadership in Technology risk, Security, Legal, second line risk to represent technology concerns and push adoption forward across the bank
