Description:

St Joseph’s Institution International School School (SJIIS) in Malaysia is a Lasallian International School (3 to 18 years). It prepares students for the IGCSE and A Level examinations with an emphasis upon research-based teaching pedagogy and a character-building programme of activities inspired by the school’s Lasallian heritage. This includes service learning initiatives, and a holistic approach to sport, music and the arts.
SJIIS is seeking an outstanding and inspirational Head of Early Years, whose passion, experience, and commitment will transform the outcomes of our students. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to join this ambitious international school by providing day-to-day leadership within the Elementary School.
The School is committed to delivering an outstanding learning experience that meets the needs of our students and the Head of Early Years will play a key role in shaping this. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of Elementary school leadership, knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning best practices, strategic planning, staffing, character education, and curriculum and assessment within a values-driven environment.
We are committed to securing the highest possible standards of teaching and learning to ensure that our pupils will flourish with the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for future studies and lifelong learning. The school has a very strong extra-curricular programme for its students, and all teachers, including senior leaders, are expected to make a significant contribution to this.
The successful candidate will uphold the school values, and put pupils‘ wellbeing and character development at the heart of learning. They will be responsible for promoting high quality education for all students in an inclusive setting, showing respect for all within our community.
Requirements: We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and knowledgeable professional who will work proactively to ensure the best possible holistic learning experience for our students. Prior leadership experience, as well as experience with the EYFS and UK National Curriculum, is essential.

A Successful Candidate Will:

  • Engage, inspire, and motivate members of staff through effective leadership
  • Be a role model within our community, demonstrating integrity and respect for all persons
  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively, develop effective relationships, and establish productive partnerships with all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of up-to-date, context specific teaching and learning best practices and their underlying ethos
  • Have experience in elementary school leadership demonstrating an understanding of how pastoral and academic roles work together, rather than in isolation
  • Show a passion for academic research, wider reading, and how to use that research practically
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS and UK National Curriculum
  • Knowledge and experience of strategic planning
  • Knowledge of rigorous assessment models and their underlying ethos
  • Knowledge and experience of recruitment and staffing
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, policy development and implementation

We expect all candidates to address these points in a letter of application.

We can offer:

  • A caring, inclusive Lasallian school focused on holistic education
  • A school-wide commitment to accelerating and deepening pupils’ learning
  • A highly effective team supporting character development and supporting each other
  • Professional development opportunities to promote the delivery of cutting edge practice
  • Competitive teachers’ pay and conditions

SJIIS Malaysia is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we hold ourselves to a high standard concerning safer recruitment policy and processes. We expect the same commitment to keeping children safe from all of our staff and applicants will be subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post including a full DBS check, checks with past employers, online checks and relevant international police checks.
