Description:
We are looking to appoint Maternity Cover for the Head of EPR to join our Digital Clinical System (DCS) Team.
East Cheshire NHS Trust and Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are jointly creating a new EPR, which is known locally as the Digital Clinical System (DCS), which is due to go live in September 2024.
This post will be responsible for developing and leading the ‘business as usual’ service. This will include the management of a federated support team across the two Trusts, ensuring there is a consistent approach to the configuration and integration with existing systems, adoption, and training delivery. The role will work closely with the supplier MEDITECH to fix problems and manage risks and the digital transformation leads for each organisation.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). The Trust provides high quality planned and emergency care, cardiac, critical care, child health, maternity services and intermediate care at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.
The Trust provides over 500 beds and employs over 5,100 members of staff. A comprehensive range of community services is provided across 26 medical centres and schools through our Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership.
We have played, and continue to play, a proactive role in the development of Integrated Care plans across Cheshire & Merseyside and our local Cheshire East and Cheshire West Place-based systems. We believe, and it is the cornerstone of our five-year Trust Strategy, there is the opportunity to progress innovative, responsive and effective care in the best setting for the patient, be it in the hospital or out in the community.
At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
Lead the build, test and release process for all system upgrades and enhancements including planned and emergency changes.
Communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to encourage behaviours that lead to greater uptake and more effective use of EPR. Ranging from formal complex, large group presentations to clinical and administrative stakeholders to build rapport and influence decisions.
Communicate complex issues and opportunities to a range of stakeholders to build cases for change. This includes agreeing the requirements and writing business cases for packages of supplier software developments.
Research the product roadmap and outline the impacts and opportunities it presents to the Trusts and their strategies, setting the direction of travel for future system design and configuration.
Analyse problem areas and/or changes in business requirements, working with service leads to identify and plan EPR changes to maximise the return on the DCS investment and support the delivery of identified business benefits.
Ensure performance and resilience of the DCS so that it can support 24/7 working. The postholder will therefore be responsible for supporting solutions including Business Continuity systems (BCP), data archiving and data repositories.
Manage the supplier relationship ensuring issues are responded to in a timely manner, system solutions have been fully explored and DCS upgrades and system changes have minimal impact on the Trusts. This will contribute to the pro-active monitoring of the supplier KPIs.
Lead the development of the required DCS reports and dashboard alongside Business Intelligence managers. Developing an EPR performance dashboard that will support monitoring of adoption, issues and incidents.
Respond expertly and professionally to all Trust queries.
Ensure that peer review processes are embedded into standard team practice.
Lead the development of local and Trust-wide policies and procedures as required by a twin Trust Electronic Patient Record.
- Undertake regular horizon scanning of best practice and developments from other EPR implementations through regional and national forums including supplier forums such as the MEDITECH User Network (MUN)
