Description:

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership is a shared services organisation like no other. We provide a broad range of support services to organisations across the NHS in Wales . In recent years, we have grown our portfolio of services, as set out in our 2024-2027 Integrated Medium-Term Plan. We are now an organisation employing more than 5,000 staff with a budget of over £600M.
The Head of Emergency Preparedness, Response and Resilience is an exciting new role with responsibility for shaping, implementing and delivering an emergency response and resilience strategy for the organisation, designed to underpin delivery our IMTP.
We require an expert in emergency planning to join our team and act as the main point of contact for business continuity planning and to take the lead on incident response.
Reporting to the Director of Planning, Performance and Informatics, you will have the autonomy to work closely with our Directors. You will provide assurance that arrangements are fit for purpose both in and out of standard working hours, and enable delivery of the NWSSP’s key business objectives.

You will work collaboratively across the organisation, with colleagues within NHS Wales, and where relevant other public authorities including the Welsh Government. You will frequently be required to represent NWSSP at national level meetings.

  • To act as an expert resource and the point of contact for Strategic Business Continuity, Civil Contingencies and Emergency Planning management across NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership.
  • Lead on the analysis and interpretation of national policy to facilitate development, maintenance and review of long-term corporate business continuity plans, emergency planning management and organisational response and resilience.
  • Provide professional managerial support to the Director of Planning, Performance, and Informatics for ensuring NWSSP achieves and maintains its responsibilities with regard relevant Welsh Government guidance, business continuity planning, Emergency preparedness, resilience and response and where applicable functions under the Civil Contingencies Act (2004).
  • Design and co-ordinate Emergency and Business Continuity training events, including scenario planning and training.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
