Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an experienced Head of Engineering located in Dundalk, Ireland.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Engineering will provide dynamic leadership and mentoring to the engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical & Technical), ensuring their ongoing development and high standards of performance. You will work closely with Engineering Managers to identify improvements to current processes and switchgear products and oversee the implementation of these improvements whilst ensuring standards and approved checking methods are maintained.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Resource allocation and management, including safe procedures, appropriate documentation and storage, maintenance of drawings and establishing quality standards
  • Multi-disciplinary working to ensure budgetary and time constraints are met whilst upholding quality and customer service
  • Supporting the sales team with product specification and quotation activities
  • Manage the detailed mechanical and electrical design of complex, high value products and systems, as well as providing technical expertise to ensure cost effective and technically sound product and system solutions that satisfy all requirements and are in accordance with company aims and policies
  • Communicating, defining and delivering projects, and assessing and reviewing design resources
  • Providing support, managing and coaching the mechanical and electrical engineering teams within Ireland
  • Preparing, issuing and maintaining technical documentation in relation to detailed design as well as equipment and product operational instructions
  • Develop the continuous improvement culture within Engineering through the effective implementation and use of lean tools and techniques by all Engineers
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives
  • Participate in validation activity, including reviewing and signing protocols and reports. Ensure that resources are sufficient to meet validation requirements or escalates gap for resolution
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures as well as the customer experience of our products and oversee continued improvements to the user experience

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Project Management qualification preferred but not essential
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience at manager level, demonstrable experience in leading a team
  • Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills
  • Strategically Oriented – solid understanding of the integrated set of Anord Mardix products and services; able to identify opportunities / improvements & define and implement these opportunities
  • Presentation and communication skills – superior, both written and oral. Experience in report writing
  • Familiar with all phases of project management, understand quality control concepts and develop creative and innovative ways to improve business processes
