Description:
In this context, the Nokia Policy and Government Affairs Europe organization is looking for a ‘Head of European Policy and Member State Relations’ position to influence legislative, policy, and regulatory issues relevant to Nokia as well as to further develop relationships and advocacy programs towards the EU Council/European capitals. The position is part of the Policy and Government Affairs Europe team organized along key policy files leads and institutions’ relationship leads (Commission, Parliament, Council/Capitals).
The position will have to overall lead on cybersecurity and trustworthiness files towards the institutions. He/she will be supported by the global policy team and other relevant company experts. The position will also specifically represent Nokia before Council and European Capitals regarding the implementation of European policies and national funding frameworks of interest to Nokia. The position will maintain and further develop relationships with key Council and European Capitals’ staff while preserving and growing the company’s reputation as a thought leader on all policy aspects relevant to Nokia.
A master education in public policy or EU politics is preferred. At least 7-10 years of experience as an EU institution staffer and/or a comparable position in the private sector. A working knowledge of the EU institutions, especially the EU Council and Capitals, is a plus.
The role includes a focus on Germany. As such, experience in German politics and tech policy is required.
The role requires the ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a complex environment where flexibility and influencing skills are essential.
The Policy and Government Affairs team fulfils a communication function. All members represent Nokia as a company, its values and attitude when dealing with external audiences.
Experience in governmental and industry relationships
• Ability to build relationships and communicate messages that concerns our business and industry
• Ability to communicate complex concepts quickly, concisely, and effectively
• Knowledge of the telecommunication business
• Strong language skills, both written and verbal, very fluent English is a basic requirement
• High ethical standards
• Able to manage confidential information and projects
