AT A GLANCE

  • Salary - The salary range for this role is set at £116,000 - £182,000.
  • Contract type - This is a permanent position.
  • Working pattern - This is a hybrid working role, your time will be split between working from home and the London Head Office. The normal place of work for this role is Victoria, London pending the relocation of the London office to Pimlico during the summer of 2024, after which the normal place of work will become Pimlico, London.
  • Please note that you will be required to work from and visit other Partnership sites across the estate on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

  • Significant experience working in a retail or large, complex organisation operating at a senior level and contributing to and delivering corporate strategies

  • Demonstrable experience leading construction and facilities management activities across a large estate

  • Proven track record of managing 3rd parties and influencing key stakeholders across the business
  • Proven leadership experience to manage, motivate and mentor a sizable team of specialists and generalists
  • Experience of overseeing complex construction contractual arrangements, contract negotiation and procurement of 3rd parties
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Deep understanding of economic principles coupled with robust commercial acumen

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Partnership as a Head of Facilities Management, Design & Construction. Reporting to the Director of Property, you will oversee a diverse estate, including shops, distribution centres, hotels, head offices, and more, totaling 27 million sq ft.
In this role you’ll be responsible for our Design and Construction team, and will be accountable for all programmes and construction across the same above named estate, including development of programme briefs with internal customers and costing of all programmes.
Additionally, you will lead on Facilities Management which includes maintenance of the engineering plant and building fabric and external areas across our estate, as well as softer services, including cleaning and waste management.
You’ll collaborate and work in the ‘heart’ of our two Brands, Waitrose and John Lewis to have a clear understanding of their needs enabling the delivery of their strategies in the most efficient and low cost way in order to add value. It’ll be critical that you bring your commercial mindset to this role.
The role involves the management of 8 direct reports and indirect management of approximately 200 Partners, which include technical specialists, head office and field teams. A significant part of the delivery will be through 3rd parties and thus requires exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
