OVERVIEW
The successful candidate for this role will perform a vital and pivotal role in the company and work very closely with the Managing Director and Senior management team in order to lead the day to day operations of the Accounts Department and Admin Team.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in a timely manner. This role is crucial for supporting the financial health of our business and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency with Sage accounting system.
You are a problem solver, reliable and trustworthy when dealing with confidential information. You can plan and prioritise your own workload to meet tight deadlines.
We are a small, independent, growing company with a team of 30. The job title of this role is Head of Finance and HR as this role has ownership of our finances.
SKILLS
Proficiency in Sage accounting software
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies or errors.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while adhering to deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with team members and external stakeholders.
Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and dealing with a very wide-ranging to-do list
Have good self-discipline and be able to make own decisions where required
Be an excellent problem solver and be able to apply common-sense to any situation
Be able to work on their own initiative and organise their day as required
Be a personable and confident communicator
A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
High IT proficiency and ability to work across multiple systems effectively
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 3 years bookkeeping experience.
AAT certified preferred, not essential
Sage Accounting software: 3 years (required)
Bookkeeping: 3 years (required)
Management reporting: 1 year (required)
Profit & loss: 1 year (required)
AAT Certificate or equivalent – preferred, not essential

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Manage accounts payable, including processing invoices, reconciling statements, and ensuring timely payments.
Reconciling and balancing inter-company loan transactions between the different group companies.
Overseeing and Preparing VAT returns for review and submission.
Deal with HR issues through our online portal with RBS Mentor
Issue, amend & store employee contracts
Prepare quarterly financial reports and assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and other financial accounts.
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information for reporting purposes.
Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting system.
Debtor management and collection.
Prepare and action monthly payroll and email payslips to all employees.
Administer auto enrolment pensions.
Calculate holiday entitlement for employees.
FPS submission to HMRC.
