The Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance – IT, to join our Group Finance team based in Melbourne. Reporting to the General Manager Finance – IT & ES, the Head of Finance – IT leads the coordination and preparation of periodic financial reporting, planning & forecasting, and partnering activities for Toll IT. The role ensures periodic financial planning and reporting activities are completed in the agreed timeframes providing actionable insights. IT at Toll is on a transformation journey and one of the purposes of the role is to reflect financial planning, performance activities and processes to meet the needs of the new structure.
The Head of Finance – IT will manage a team of Toll Group employees to partner with the IT function on all financial matters. The role will also lead the standardisation and simplification of key IT financial processes across a diverse stakeholder group. Every Finance team member has a role to play in our Transformation journey, ensuring a standard of excellence with respect to integrity of data, timeliness of reporting, efficiency of procedures, teamwork, thought leadership and a collaborative service orientated approach.

As the Head of Finance – IT, you will:

  • Develop strong relationships with the IT team to embed financial analysis and decision support across the function, and act as a financial adviser to deliver expected financial outcomes.
  • Critically assess major operating and capital expenditure against budgets and alternatives, challenging business managers to deliver cost-effective and appropriate expenditure.
  • Lead and coordinate the end of month process for the team to ensure timely submission as per Group requirements, and track performance against strategic goals, business plans, and budgets.
  • Work with the extended IT leadership team to develop programs, initiatives, and actions to deliver targets, including process mapping and standardizing processes and procedures.
  • Monitor data integrity and promote continuous improvement, providing ad-hoc analysis and modelling for specific IT projects.
  • Represent IT Finance to support Corporate with relevant financial analysis for the annual Corporate FBT return and half-yearly income tax-pack submissions, and act as the IT Finance lead on internal/external audit comments, coordinating required actions to address deficiencies.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with CA or CPA qualification
  • Extensive experience, with previous roles in finance IT partnering. As well as experience in managing teams in a remote working environment.
  • Strong desire to demonstrate initiative and ownership of tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to manage and meet deadlines to a variety of sources.
