ABOUT YOU

With experience in a directly comparable role, you will have substantial experience in a governance, accountability or compliance environment within a large, complex organisation. You will be comfortable working at a senior level, with proven experience of managing senior stakeholders at board level, providing expert briefings and advice and in supporting the development and implementation of policy and practice.
The post calls for high levels of diplomacy, reliability and integrity, coupled with advanced competencies in negotiating and influencing at all levels. You must be an experienced manager and leader, able to pull together and lead virtual teams of individuals in order to deliver projects and initiatives, managing the time of yourself and others effectively to meet agreed deadlines while maintaining the flexibility to respond to ad hoc requests.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Head of Governance to lead and develop the University’s governance function. You will be the key source of knowledge for university governance, responsible for providing independent advice on governance matters at all levels to support the University in meeting its statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will act as Working Secretary to the University Council and University Senate and Secretary to the Executive Board as well as other key committees. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective decision-making takes place at all levels of the University’s governance and senior management structure, taking responsibility for ensuring that best practice is followed and key governance documents are regularly updated.
You will apply a continuous improvement mentality to the University’s governance function to maintain excellent service to stakeholders at all times and extend the institutional understanding of governance, for example through the development of training and communications.
