HOW WILL I HELP?

We are looking for a Head of Government Affairs and Public policy to join our team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will lead Westpac’s public policy and government affairs priorities for the group. Reporting directly to the Director, Government Affairs, WIB Marketing and Reputation Strategy, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide senior leadership and guidance across all facets of the Government Affairs and Public Policy function working with the lines of business across the Group to develop public policy positions.
  • Advise the business on forthcoming political and policy risks, incl. community attitudes, so that the business can mitigate those risks.
  • Lead engagement with the ABA and advise CEO and Group Executive, CBB on key issues being managed through the ABA’s Council and Committees.
  • Advise the business on political and reputation risk arising from business objectives, e.g. the integrated ESG plan.
  • Engage proactively with Government, the Opposition, Department and Treasury officials as appropriate on public policy issues of interest to the Group.
  • Manage briefing and preparation for Group Executives called to appear before parliamentary and senate inquiries.
