Description:

Purpose of the Job

  • To drive Safety management system as per PR guidelines, by driving safety programs conforming to relevant statutory requirements and actively promote safety culture making PR Non-Industrial and Industrial sites as safe working places across Africa and supporting the Middle East and Turkey.
  • Strengthens enforcement of security polices related so site, travel, IT systems as well as expatriates, in collaboration with local affiliates depending on their risk profiles.
  • The role will support multiple markets across Africa.
  • Single point of contact with HQ for all safety related matters across Africa with support to the Middle East and Turkey H&S teams.
  • Own’s the tracking, monitoring and reporting for reporting of Africa and Middle East Safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • To create and maintain a positive safety culture in both Non-Industrial and Industrial sites.
  • Manage internal safety fundamentals to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Development and execution of the safety roadmap strategy to ensure that all Non-Industrial and Industrial sites working towards LTA free by 2025
  • Collaborate with management to develop corrective actions, implement safety practices and guidelines, and escalate safety concerns.
  • Perform and analyze risk assessments to assist in creating new safety concepts so tasks are completed in a safe manner.
  • Create, document and present safety training materials to organization’s safety champions and coordinators.
  • Provide guidance for Industrial and Non industrial site safety communication meetings.
  • Develop, review, and improve standard operating procedures around new and existing job tasks that provide employees with the safest way to conduct the job
  • Act as a Non-Industrial and Industrial site QSHE Management Representative and ensure that the regulatory requirements in regard to safety are complied.
  • Regularly review and familiarize with all applicable legislation and standards related to QSHE and ensure compliance.
  • Establish QSHE Annual Key Performance Indicators and track for compliance.
  • Manage QSHE Statistics reporting for Non-Industrial and Industrial sites and provide regular QSHE performance updates to management.
  • Interface effectively with peer departments – commercial, corporate affairs (S&R), HR (Facilities) to achieve company’s QSHE goals and objectives.
  • Perform QSHE Audits and Inspections, prepare reports of findings and recommendations for corrective and preventative measures as necessary.
  • Participate and assist the safety officers and line managers, in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace risks, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
  • To develop and implement the Safety training programmes.
  • To implement PR Global Safety policies.
  • Responsible for statutory compliances related to Environment & Safety
  • Responsible for Site assessment & Compliance of On-Site Emergency Plan.
  • To implement incident and near-miss recording, analysis and reporting for all site.
  • Liaison with external parties as required on safety, environment matters in consultation with the Head to Technical Development else Operation Director.
  • To Set site objective and departmental objective for QSHE
  • Ensure adequate budgets are provided for implementation of QSHE programs
  • Recommend and manage security providers and armed response for both industrial and non- industrial sites including expatriates’
  • Standardize security access and egress controls to protect people and assets.
  • Develop and implement Safety Audit controls for 3rd party facilities and industrial sites to endure appropriate protections of both POS and Finished goods either stored or in transit

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Industrial safety from recognized institute.
  • Experience in both industrial & non-industrial environments would be advantageous. Experience in at latest one is a must have.
  • Safety and Security Audit experience is an advantage.
  • Project Management certification is an advantage.
  • 5-8 Years in safety & environment in a reputed FMCG environment.
  • 5-8 Years experience and understanding the security principles in the FMCG environment
  • Understanding the Africa continent and experience in managing multiple markets an advantage

Competencies:

Technical:

  • In depth knowledge of relevant ISO requirements.
  • Well versed with Risk Assessment techniques.
  • Able to carry out incident investigations, root cause analysis and suggest corrective and preventive action.
  • Understanding of behaviour-based safety program to identify “at risk behaviours.”
  • Must have good auditing skills to carry out safety audits.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes/technology.
  • Knowledge of Statutory / Regulatory requirements.
  • Business and cost understanding.
