Responsibilities:

The Head of Learning Academy is an exciting opportunity in our People, Safety & Environment team based at our Perth CBD office.
The role is responsible for the growth and development of internal capability across the organisation through the design, development and implementation of innovative learning programs and development frameworks to help Synergy deliver on strategic imperatives.
The role is an integral part of Synergy’s transition to our future workforce as we decarbonise by closing our coal fired powered stations and building renewable assets such as big batteries and wind farms.
The role oversees 5 teams: The Leadership Academy, The Compliance and Future Skills Academy, The Graduate and Entry Levels Academy, the Learning Operations team, and Learning Technology teams.
Reporting to the EGM of People Safety and Environment (PSE), this role works as a collaborative member of the PSE leadership team and the broader Synergy senior leadership team. You will demonstrate a commitment to safety, environment and customer centricity, and creating a high-performance culture where people thrive and seamlessly adapt to change.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Build and grow Synergy’s internal capability from entry level to executive through effective strategic development milestones and the building of external talent organisation partnerships.
  • Build and oversee the delivery of the learning academy program of works aligned to business requirements considering optimal utilisation cost to run and the capability uplift return on investment.
  • Ensuring our people are fully qualified and have the right training to work safely, in particular at our operational sites.
  • Lead a team to design innovating learning programs to meet different learning styles and modes of learning (eg all abilities, learning preferences and digital technology usage).
  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of Synergy’s learning and training frameworks and systems, including learning compliance for contractors and employees.
  • Cost and governance management, aligning investment to outcomes.
