SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THAT WILL LEAD TO SUCCESS

  • Law qualification from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in New South Wales.
  • 12 years+ PQE litigation experience obtained in a top or middle tier law firm and/or in-house legal department in the insurance sector.
  • Experience in professional indemnity disputes and/or employment law.
  • Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage with colleagues across different functions and bring people together to achieve a result
  • The ability to think commercially, understand business drivers, and provide insights

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and cost effectively resolving litigated and non-litigated disputes in Australia with least impact to Aon.
  • Being the key point of contact with leadership responsibility (working with other Law Department colleagues including both the Global Head of Litigation and Chief Counsel, Australia) for the conduct of:
  • error and omission claims
  • employment related disputes
  • contentious regulatory issues
  • other contentious matters
  • Taking personal responsibility for the delivery of high quality, timely and cost-effective legal services.
  • Supporting growth strategies for Aon Australia and PNG ensuring that how clients are served, vendors are engaged with, and all colleagues’ interactions are compliant, and risk managed. Overall to encourage sustainable business in a thriving inclusive environment, protect Aon’s existing business, brand, and reputation, whilst ensuring Aon acts in clients’ best interests.
  • Leading and inspiring the Australian Litigation team through driving global goals locally applied and ensuring talent is retained and careers are developed, via talent management, providing on-going feedback and review of performance.
  • Maintaining and managing relationships with external legal advisers and experts that support the efficient and effective provision of legal services to Aon, including effectively managing matters and litigation briefed to external counsel.
  • Working closely with management and relevant Committees (including Error and Omission and Risk Committees) to reduce and mitigate professional liability and other risks by:
  • conducting root cause analyses of claims, disputes, and complaints.
  • identifying, instigating and implementing risk management measures.
  • coordinating and delivering error and omission and risk mitigation training.
  • Effectively planning and managing external legal expenditure.
  • Building collaborative and productive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders within and outside Aon.
  • Positively and robustly promoting Aon’s values and leadership model
