LOCATION: London, Chester, Manchester or Leeds
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in one of our office hubs mentioned above
About this opportunity
Here in the Embedded Finance team, we’re a start-up business unit within Consumer Lending and are tasked with building out propositions that solve customers’ financial needs, when and where they are.
We want to address problems for existing franchise customers as well as those new to franchise, using outstanding LBG capabilities in ways that are coordinated into customers’ existing lifestyles. We’ll be bold and innovative in our use of data and technology to put customers first, to build balanced and long-term business models, thus adding to Group capabilities overall.
We’ll continually test and iterate for growth and takeaways. We seek people with a desire to learn, an ability to build thought-partnerships with a broad range of specialists across functions, and the patience and resilience to implement strategies that will evolve with changing customer, market and regulatory contexts.
As the Head of New Initiatives for EF, you’ll report to the Director of Embedded Finance, and will work closely with the product and strategy teams as well as teams across Functions (e.g. Customer Value Propositions, Credit Risk, Finance, Group Strategy) to develop new features and products within Embedded Finance and push them live.
Your role is an exciting opportunity to expand our existing Embedded Finance proposition into new products and markets while ensuring that all our products and journeys are meeting the customer at their point of need and providing an excellent experience when making purchases.

What you’ll need

  • Customer Obsessed – deep knowledge and experienced application of customer and value frameworks. Ability to create a plan (underpinned by a prioritised backlog of customer needs) which feeds into teams across a large-scaled and multi-faced organisation to achieve the customer vision. Ability to continuously hypothesize, test, learn and iterate to deliver superior customer outcomes.
  • Commercially Driven – clear focus on commercial outcomes, balancing traditional financial practices, risk, business cases, product P&Ls alongside ‘new’ customer pipeline, customer value and customer lifetime value measures. Experience of measuring the value created through delivery of incremental features and plans, ensuring a consistent approach to performance and opportunity scoping.
  • Experienced Product Leader – understanding of product management including ownership of design, run and performance across regulated banking products. Confident to challenge and influence construct, pricing and commercial impacts against the customer and propositions landscape.
  • (Digital) Marketing Mindset – Creates and develops new and innovative ways to engage customers increasing awareness, uptake and advocacy.
  • Values and Behaviours – Key personal characteristics include positive mindset, challenges the status quo, strong collaboration skills, proactive management, resilience, and comfort with uncertainty.
  • Proven track record in talent development, performance management and colleague engagement to drive a ‘thrive’ culture that creates, values and recognises great performance.
  • Able to navigate complexity and convey an inspiring vision and purpose through it.
  • Strong awareness of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.
