Job Description
Job title -Head of Planning & Purchasing Italy
Department - Operations
Reports to Plant manager
Location - Foligno
Job summary
Overall responsibility and accountability for Material Planning Purchasing & Production Planning department, to exceed customer expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, and driving operational excellence.
Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills. Drive Key Performance Indicators across all areas, ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.

Specific responsibilities

  • Lead the Production Planning & (Material Planning) Purchasing team, support all activities.
  • Develop team members and have succession plans in place….remembering People are our best asset and that we are Better Together.
  • Have a clear Vision for Planning & Purchasing in line with the Company strategy.
  • Customer excellence through delivering quality & reliability.
  • To achieve target levels demonstrated by data on key performance measures.
  • Support New Product Introductions as requires.
  • Maintain an effective and flexible processes across all these areas to respond to (Major Projects through to) short lead customer orders (/mock-ups). Drive operational excellence and best practice.
  • Ensure the compliance of the team with legal and Company health, safety, environmental and other standards and procedures.
  • Understand the commercial aspects relating to the business and act as a member of the management team in implementing strategic plans and objectives for the function that will enable the business plan to be achieved.
  • Deliver MKPS improvements to ensure waste reduction within areas responsible for.
  • Deputise for the Director of Italy Operations as and when appropriate.

Compliance; ensure compliance with business systems, processes, certification schemes, regulations and legislation relevant to the scope of your role. Support internal quality controls and audits to demonstrate compliance.

Job holder requirements

  • Proven track record in people management skills
  • Proven Knowledge of System driven Planning tools and MRP
  • Degree Level Qualification or 5+ year relevant experience
  • At least 5 years successful management experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Committed to and able to demonstrate being passionate about process improvement and delivery of excellent customer service
  • Able to communicate to a high level
  • Proactive and open to change attitude: change management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory (frequent call meetings with US and UK colleagues are part of the role)
  • Knowledge and use of ISO standards and Quality System.
  • Available to frequent travels between north and centre Italy. In other locations, in Italy and abroad when necessary.
