Description:

WHAT SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DO I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a PMO;
  • Experience in process improvement, with a focus on programme, project management methodologies and tools;
  • Experience of defining IT budgets as part of a business planning process, and monitoring forecast / actual spend versus the baseline;
  • Experience in developing and delivering project management training;
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in programme and project management;
  • Understanding of the company’s strategic objectives and how projects align with these.

Responsibilities:

  • Best Practices: Implement and promote industry best practice for portfolio and project management across SmartestEnergy. Develop training programmes for staff in partnership with L&D;
  • Strategic Support: Provide strategic direction and support to project teams, going beyond traditional reporting and governance;
  • Continuous Improvement: Working with Programme and Project Managers across IT&C, continually improve programme and project management methodologies, tools, and processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Business Planning: Facilitate the annual and quarterly business planning process across IT&C, working closely with the Strategy and Business Development, Finance and HR to maintain a forward portfolio of business and technology change for SmartestEnergy that is fully aligned to the company strategy;
  • Financial Management: Working closely with the Finance team track budget versus forecast/actuals for the IT&C business as usual and project budgets;
  • Governance and Oversight: Ensure that all programme and project delivery is within governance, highlighting any exceptions. Provide appropriate challenge and review of on information supplied to the PMO. Ensure governance frameworks are fit for purpose and scale to SmartestEnergy’s global ambitions;
  • Reporting and Insight: Ensure that the PMO team produce regular reporting packs in accordance with the agreed reporting calendar. Crystalise, summarise and provide insight into delivery performance;
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage and challenge stakeholders to ensure project objectives align with strategic goals, and the business case and outcomes are clearly. Chair IT investment and oversight governance forums;
  • Project Services: Oversee the delivery of project services, ensuring they meet the needs of the business and project teams;
  • Workforce Planning: Manage workforce planning to ensure the PMO has the necessary resources to effectively support project delivery. Build and manage a central resource plan to ensure that supply and demand or resources to delivery the change portfolio across the business is understood, tracked and reported;
  • Information Security: Ensure that information security policies and procedures are adhered to.
